Dillard senior Chandler Mack is reclassifying to 2021 and will attend PHS Academy Post-Grad in Tampa.
The 6-foot-4 big guard helped lead Dillard to back-to-back state championship game appearances in his final two seasons at the Fort Lauderdale program.
Mack joins fellow South Florida prospects EJ Taylor (Fort Lauderdale High) and Gabriel Vargas (Somerset Pines) in PHS’ 2020 class.
“I am excited about my choice to further my post-graduate basketball pursuits with Pro Holmes Sports Academy,” Mack said. “I made my decision based on a number of things that were important to me. I think their rigorous conditioning, on-court skills development, individualized training and elite team schedule will give me the opportunity to strengthen all aspects of my game.”
Back in March, Mack was tremendous against Bartow in the Class 6A state final. He went for 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in the 66-61 overtime loss.
In the semifinal victory over Lake City Columbia, Mack shot 50 percent from the field and had 12 points. Mack is athletic and has nice size at the guard position.
“Chandler is a stud,” said PHS coach Aaron Holmes. “Watched him play in the state tournament vs Bartow. He was one of the best players there regardless of class. Comes from a great high school program that emphasizes winning, defense and toughness. Main ingredients college coaches look for in prospects. He’s a no-brainer D-1 player.”
Mack played under veteran Dillard head coach Darryl Burrows. Holmes believes he just flew under the radar in part due to the travel basketball changes in 2019 and the Coronavirus in 2020.
