BOCA RATON — Fort Lauderdale’s Westminster Academy went north to Palm Beach County to play Grandview Prep on Wednesday in a non-district contest.
The three-time defending state champion Lions (15-8), ranked No. 4 in Class 3A by the FHSAA, broke a three-game losing skid with a 64-57 victory over the Pride (No. 6 in 2A).
Westminster Academy lost all three of its games at the Montverde Invitational last week.
The difference Wednesday: the Lions’ passing and 3-point shooting of junior Caleb Muller. Muller canned seven 3s on the way to a 23-point performance.
Muller scored 17 of his points in the second half.
Westminster did an excellent job bringing the ball up against light full-court pressure and then zipping it around until the Lions got a good shot. 2022s Aidan Abell and Kaleb Walters both finished in double-digits for Westminster.
Westminster led 14-12 after one, 34-24 at the half and 55-44 going into the final frame.
Grandview falls to 16-6.
