Source Hoops’ Pat Lammer was in Lakeland for the 2020 FHSAA Boys State Basketball Tournament. He will be unveiling All-Tournament teams — one per day — for all seven classes Class 1A-7A. Here is the first installment:
CLASS 1A ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
MVP: 6-2 Torey Buie (2020), Hawthorne
Poured in 32 points in the semis vs. Paxton; 20P, 8R, 3S in championship victory over Hilliard; shot 18 for 36 from the field; got to the free-throw line for 22 attempts
6-7 Jacob Crews (2020), Hilliard
The University of North Florida signee (pictured) put up 29 & 13 in a semifinal victory over Vernon; 13P, 6R, 4B in championship vs. Hawthorne; shot 14 for 14 at the free-throw line
5-11 Jeremiah James (2020), Hawthorne
James scored 11 points and had 5 steals and 3 assists in the semifinal win over Paxton; had 6P, 4R, 2S in state title victory over Hilliard; played 57-plus minutes in 2 games
6-3 Jelan Jones (2020), Hilliard
13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks in semifinal win over Vernon; 8P, 12R, 3B in finals loss to Hawthorne; shot 10 of 18 in the tournament and had 8 offensive rebounds
6-3 Connor Varnum (2020), Paxton
18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists in loss to Hawthorne in the semifinals; played all 32 minutes and got to the free-throw line for 14 attempts
